Happy Friday! I hope you are all doing amazing today! This was a requested post and I hope this helps you ladies when Mother Nature calls!
Ladies, you know that saying that period cravings are a lot like pregnancy cravings and how sh*tty that is for us and how we’re doomed? It is. Okay, well I’ve never been pregnant and don’t plan on getting married and starting a family of my own anywhere in the near future, but I have heard it’s similar and more to period cravings and you eat and eat. Below, are some of the popular cravings and healthier alternatives for each!
Peanut Butter Cups and Chocolate
It’s not a secret how much I LOVE Reese’s Peanut Butter and Reese’s Pieces, if I could, I would snack on them all day, everyday. I always have them at home, in my bag to snack on, or I make my own from scratch.
ALSL TIP | I love these Peanut Butter Cups, they are a much healthier option with organic dark chocolate and real peanut butter. These also have less sugar, dairy free and no preservatives.
I’m not that big on chocolate (more of a chips gal) and really only crave them during my time of the month. I was grocery shopping one day and grabbed the first chocolate bar I found.
ALSL TIP | This chocolate is actually gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, sulfites, lupin, fish, crustaceans, peanut, tree nuts, casein, egg, sesame, mustard and shellfish free AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I promise you, they taste delicious and are a much healthier option for your sweet tooth!
Another period craving I have? Nutella. So delicious and soooo not good for you!
ALSL TIP | This healthier option is gluten-free, non-GMO, and contain 0g trans fat.
Sometimes I’m sweet person, sometimes I’m salty person and boy, do I LOVE my chips, like I would give up Chipotle for the rest of my life and live on Pizza and Chips. Sweet Chili and Sour Cream, Poutine Chips, Ketchup Chips, All Dressed Chips, Flamin’ Hot…. I could go on and on and on….
ALSL TIP | This chip brand have the crunch and taste you’re looking for without the excess calories and fat, while this chip brand has no MSG, no trans fat, no cholesterol, it’s kosher, they use green energy and it’s also vegan. Lastly, if you’re more of a popcorn person, this popcorn brand uses sunflower oil, has no GMOs, gluten, preservatives, dairy free, peanut free, tree nut free and also a good source of fibre!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream. I love Ice Cream, honestly if I could, I would eat it everyday,
like I do every summer day. I don’t know about you, but I love my Vanilla Ice Cream and one of my childhood flavours was Superkid from Laura Secord. If you love Mint Chocolate Chip, I may or may not be judging you…. I’m definitely judging you.
ALSL TIP | This is a healthier ice cream brand and it’s a girl’s best friend. I mean the entire pint contains about 240 to 350 calories and it actually tastes good!
You know that one FRIENDS episode where Phoebe asks Monica and Chandler what they want as an engagement present and Monica asks Phoebe for her grandmother’s cookie recipe and how Monica wants to be that Mom that makes the best cookies and how their house smells like cookies? Yeah, I want to be that Mom in the future that bakes the best cookies and my house always smells like food and cookies!
So, I’m not the best person to ask for healthy food and dessert recipes (I mean, come on y’all know I’m not a healthy eater, my “diet” is best described as an unsupervised child at a party) since I go to my usual Toronto and Hamilton spots to get my favourites (more on that in a future post!). Since I do love my cookies on the daily and it’s soooo not good for you, I started researching and buying healthier alternatives (#adulting).
ALSL TIP | These Choco Crunch Cookies are made from coconut, dates and cacao and also have no refined sugar or salt.

This cookie is actually my favourite cookie to go brand and I always have them with me! ALSL TIP | Totally unrelated to healthy eating, but I like to store cookies and every food that is stored in my pantry in these glass canisters. They will keep your food from getting stale, it will help keep them longer and stay crunchier.
Is that enough food? I’m not saying I have every single thing on this post either in my pantry or in my fridge because you know Mom and Dad and other family members are reading, but I’m also not saying I don’t…. If you’re a big homebody like me, you gotta stock up, you know? If you guys have any other healthier suggestions, let me know!
