Hope you are all doing well! Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day, so I’ll be sharing some of my favourite things about today and some of my favourite quotes about International Women’s Day!
But, before I do that, I just wanted to thank all the women I know and have in my life. You all mean so much to me, and you all inspire me to be the best person I can be and encourage me to fight for a difference, not only for our future, but the future of our children.
Today, let’s leave all the cattiness behind and encourage and empower each other! Let’s show each other that it’s time for a change. Let’s all be kinder, more respectful. Let’s have more encouraging and empowering and less bickering. We need this day. We need to stand together and fight for our future. We are all qualified. We are all smart, classy women. We are qualified to do what men do and should be recognized for our strengths. We need to come together to fight for a better tomorrow.
What is International Women‘s Day?
International Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across the world. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.
International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. International Women’s Day first emerged from the activities of labour movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe.
Since those early years, International Women’s Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international women’s movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women’s conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.
We have been celebrating International Women’s Day since 1909, and while we’ve made great progress since then, the problem of gender inequality still persists around the world.
Why do we celebrate International Women‘s Day on March 8?
In 1975, International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations. As a result, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace to be observed on March 8 every year.
