Happy Tuesday! Hopefully everyone is fully recovered from Sunday’s Superbowl!

Superbowl, the second most watched Sporting event after the World Cup, is a marketer’s heaven. Before we get into the best #SMSports content, let’s talk Superbowl facts. Did you know for a 30 second commercial, a company pays 5 million USD for it to play during the commercial break? Yes, that’s right 5 million USD for 30 seconds – that’s approximately $166,666 USD per second. If your company has the funds, it’s 100% worth it. On top of that, it’s estimated that 1.25 billion chicken wings, 11.2 million pounds of potato chips and 325.5 gallons of beer will be consumed during the Superbowl. That’s a lot of food! [source]


Patriots

Are we really that surprised that TB12 and the Patriots won their 6th ring on Sunday? I mean I LOVE Todd Gurley and wanted to see them win, but never bet against Brady – HE IS THE BEST (sidenote – he HATES when people call him “goat”). Not only are the Patriots killing it on the field, they’re also killing it on social media. Big props to the Patriots Social Media Coordinator/Manager and the entire Patriots Marketing and Communications team for delivering excellent and engaging content. Their content was direct, but also had a personality to it. From behind the scenes to their graphics, the Patriots social team killed it. Also, notice their hashtag, #EverythingWeGot – it’s not boring, it connects with the fans and shows the teams dedication to winning. 

 


Tom Brady TB12

LeBron and Steph have their shoes, Brady has TB12 and he and his team did not waste time to promote their Superbowl collection. Here’s a good example of an athlete using his social account to promote his business endeavours.

 


Rams

I love the Patriots social content, but the Rams have my heart. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE THEIR CONTENT (and Todd Gurley). BUT, as much as I love their content, the only thing I wasn’t loving from their socials was their hashtag – it was simply “#SBLIII” and “#LaRams.” You made it all the way to end – the Superbowl nonetheless, a more engaging and creative hashtag would have been better. From their graphics, to their swag and staying true to their brand, the Rams social is one of my favourites and let me show you why! This is the only start for the Rams, can’t wait to see their success in the future!
